Just Ripe Parties (and raises money) in the Daylight Building

Food from Just Ripe at the Kickstarted Party, Daylight Building, January 2010
The owners of Just Ripe hosted a great party in the John Black Studio space in the Daylight Building, which is next door to their soon-to-be storefront business. The party featured prepared foods by Just Ripe, providing samples of the take-out or dine-in food that will be available in the new store. Many of the foods were made with the products of local farmers which will also be available for purchase at Just Ripe. They will not be a large grocery store, but they promise to stock many of the staples that downtown residents are currently forced to drive out of the center city to obtain. Drink was provided by Blue Slip Winery, a downtown winery offering a range of wines produced from regionally grown grapes.

Also on display on this night was a host of donated items available for purchase through a silent auction. The items offered included bottles of wine, locally produced art and t-shirts, jewelry, pottery and more. Many of the roughly four hundred people present continually circled the auction table checking out the bids. It was great fun.

Music at the Just Ripe Party, January 2010
Entertainment was provided by a number of instrumentalists and singers throughout the evening including Ferd of the Hackensaw Boys. Matt Morelock of the Bearded was also spotted carrying an instrument, so he must have broken his banjo out at some point.

Also running several times was the video below explaining what the ladies behind Just Ripe are trying to accomplish. They are hoping to raise $12,000 through the Kickstarter website. This money will enable the owners to provide the services they would love to offer from the very beginning of the business. If you would like to donate to support this effort, you can make a pledge here.
